Broxton Repeats Success at Metalworking Production Awards: This Year Scooping Two Awards

Cirencester-based sheet metalwork specialist, Broxton Industries Limited, has won two awards in the prestigious biennial Metalworking Production (MWP) Awards.  The company came first in the category ‘Best Subcontractor Assembly and Finishing’ as well as being commended in the ‘Best Subcontractor Forming and Fabrication’ section - for which Broxton won first place at the MWP awards in 2004.

The judges praised Broxton’s innovation, its high level of investment and its provision of complete solutions.  They also commended the company for its high quality assembly as well as administrative areas such as its data capturing which allows the production team to easily view ranked information and pinpoint specific areas for corrective and preventative action.

Broxton managing director, Marcus Ellams, who received the awards, commented that the company’s key focus is on adapting its offerings to meet the needs of its world-class customers: ‘I am particularly pleased that we have been successful this time in assembly and finishing.  Our investment in ESD-compliant flow cells, high speed tools and training have enabled us to deliver highly efficient and cost effective electro-mechanical assembly services.

‘The award recognizes the effort and investment we have put in to this area over the last two to three years and shows that we are becoming firmly established as a broader solution provider, with many of our customers enjoying full service from design to assembly.’

Broxton’s recent investments include £100k in a new powder paint line with a three stage iron phosphate pre-treatment and an enhanced assembly facility with increased capacity that has almost doubled Broxton’s total assembly area to around 5500 square feet.  Other investments include a new V85s press brake and state of the art Gema powder spray units.

Broxton’s entry was supported by very strong endorsements from its customers.  One, a world-leading furniture supplier, has enjoyed very high levels of quality and OTD performance.  He commented that the service received from Broxton was outstanding.

Another market leading customer, in the entertainment industry, successfully used Broxton's integration service to help cope with rapidly increasing demand that was outstripping their own ability to assemble the product.  The company’s operations manager said "We were impressed by the way in which [Broxton] quickly assembled a team, arranged a production cell and really got to grips with the product to build reliable controls, to an agreed schedule to meet our customers’ requirements.  In the end sales grew from 50 units per month to 1500 units per month."

Other customer referrals endorsed Broxton for its considerable contribution to their product development, not only by successfully completing new product designs but also by value engineering established products to improve product functionality and reduce unit costs.
